By the Lake, New Hampshire

Nestled on the edge of a New Hampshire lake, this newly built shingle house harkens back to early 20th century summer cottages. Designed as a year-round family getaway, a warm, subtle color palette becomes a backdrop for a mix of antiques, classic and contemporary furniture. Large windows throughout the house put the lake, and the view beyond, front and center. Cozy reading nooks, window seats and daybeds abound, while the dining room can comfortably seat up to twenty for family gatherings. Porches, an outdoor pavilion, replete with wood burning fireplace, and a boathouse allows family and friends to take full advantage of the outdoors in all seasons.    Architect: Sheerer & White     Photographer: John Hession
